Theory Test
Your theoretical knowledge of LGV driving will be put to the test. Similar to a car theory test, it is made up of two parts; multiple choice and hazard perception. It is important that you take as much time as you can to study for your LGV theory so you will be well prepared for being out on the road. Whether in person, or by providing the learning material to study in your own time, we will pass on our knowledge to help you pass these tests with flying colours.
Theory test – Part 1A – Multiple choice
The multiple choice section includes 100 questions and covers a wide range of topics, including road signs, regulations, vehicle handling, and road safety. Commercial vehicle drivers may also encounter additional questions relevant to larger vehicles, such as load restrictions, the use of tachographs, and specific rules for buses and lorries. At least 85 of the 100 questions must be answered correctly to pass.
Theory Test – Part 1B – Hazard Perception
The Hazard Perception test evaluates the drivers ability to spot potential hazards on the road and respond in a safe and timely manner. The test involves watching video clips of road scenes where hazards develop, and the aim is to click the mouse as soon as a hazard is perceived. This test last for 30 minutes, containing 19 clips including 20 scorable hazards. Each hazard correctly identified in a timely manner is worth 5 points. A total of 67 points out of 100 are required to pass.
We offer a package for this training. Please enquire
Theory Test – Part 2 – Case study
This CPC Module assess the driver’s ability to apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios that they may face in their day-to-day driving duties, and is specifically designed for professional drivers of commercial vehicles. The study involves practical situations such as ensuring the well-being of the vehicle and its passengers or cargo, managing road safety, handling emergencies and legal responsibilities.
