Q
Where are HDT based?
Our office and training centre is based in the DHL Tradeteam Offices on Nutsey Lane, Calmore Industrial Estate, Totton. Our trainers also travel all over the UK to various locations to provide driver training on site.
Q
Can courses be completed online?
While most of training sessions take place in the classroom, we are also able to provide some courses via Microsoft Teams.
Q
What preparations do I need to make before starting training?
Before you can obtain a Cat C or C+E licence, a medical exam will be needed. You will need to arrange this with your local GP or private firm that specialises in drivers medical exams. Once this is completed, you will need to send off your medical form to the DVLA with a completed D2 form. Once this has been approved you will be issued a provisional licence which is needed before you can move on towards the practical stage. Please visit GOV.UK for more information.
It is also advisable to read up on the Highway Code as this is frequently updated with new rules to ensure road safety for all users.
Q
Do you offer refresher training?
If you already have a valid licence, but perhaps feel like you need more practice, we offer in cab training with a qualified instructor. Whether you need some tips on reversing, or just getting your skills honed if you’ve been off the road for a while, we can tailor our sessions to suit your needs.
We also offer refresher courses for transport managers. Keep up to date with the latest changes that all O-Licence holders need to be aware of.
Q
What is the difference between a transport manager refresher and Operator Licence Awareness Training (OLAT)?
A transport manager refresher is a two-day course that focuses on the activities required to manage compliance. OLAT is a one-day course that gives an overview of the legal obligations of a vehicle operator.
