HDT are a member of the National Logistics Training Consortium, governed by OFQUAL.
Established in 2021 in Southampton by Chris Watkins, Hampshire Direct Training (HDT) offer training services for LGVs. Chris has 30 years of LGV driving experience. In 2007 Chris became a fully RHA qualified CPC trainer. Chris has been a qualified transport manager and LGV trainer since 2015.
After working as a LGV driver during the pandemic, Chris formed Hampshire Direct Training Ltd to build on the relationships he has established over the years to help existing companies and drivers stay compliant with the UK’s LGV driving laws, and to pass on his knowledge to a new generation of drivers to aid the LGV driver shortage that the UK currently faces.
Starting initially offering CPC courses on location, HDT has grown to have its own offices and training centre, training vehicles, and haulage vehicles. We provide all these services from DHL Tradeteam, Totton, which was established due to Chris’s previous history with the company.
HDT has taken on more staff since its inception, and we now also provide LGV and shunter training to commercial businesses, on site, across the country.
After purchasing our first vehicle, we provided haulage work when training was not running. HDT continue to offer haulage work using our own units and drivers as our fleet expands.
Since acquiring LGV vehicles specialised for training LGV drivers, HDT have guided drivers through the process of getting their LGV license with both in cab training and classroom learning, as well as e-learning material.
Our team of qualified driver trainers share their experience, knowledge, and skills with new drivers to prepare them for their LGV test, both practical and theory.
